Ready to melt

I picked up some strips of aluminium from the scrap yard, and I’m using a steel pan (minus handle) as a crucible. You can see the strip of aluminium rolled up through the vent. The lid is reenforced with steel wire and you can see some of it coming through the refractory mixture.
